How to Develop the Proper Mindset to Attract Wealth to Your Business

Having the right mindset when starting and operating a successful business is a crucial but often overlooked requirement. Aspiring entrepreneurs sometimes spend more time picking out the right office furniture or wasting valuable time and energy on the daily minutia that might seem important to business operation, but in reality is more a habit of trying to seem busy, which for a great many business owners is a holdover from their time as employees. The business owner, especially someone new to business ownership, must be cognizant of the differences between business owner and employee mentalities. This article will outline some basic but important considerations in order to develop a mindset that is conducive to business ownership success and to attract wealth.

As previously mentioned, major differences exist in the mentality of business owners and employees. For example, in most cases employees are expected and paid to work set amounts of time during a scheduled work shift. In the typical scenario this means an eight hour workday. So for eight straight hours a day the worker completes the tasks associated with his or her job. However, studies show that the amount of actual, productive work from an average worker is usually less than eight hours – sometimes far less! One study estimates around six out of eight hours are productive, while other studies suggest even less. So what do most workers do with the extra two or more hours a day that are not productive time? They learn how to appear to be busy, and essentially “milk the clock” in order to complete their required shift. One major challenge for an individual who aspires to have business ownership success is unlearning these bad habits.

In starting any type of new endeavor, whether a home based business or traditional brick and mortar company, there may be a transitional period while the old employee paradigm fights to stay in control. Business ownership is a “pay for results” situation, so just appearing to be busy to keep the boss happy or wasting time with unimportant activities needs to be eliminated. These habits can be deadly to a new business. Furthermore, in order to develop a winning mindset even more thoroughly, some understanding is needed of the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction has received a great deal of public attention in recent years with the release of many best selling books and movies like “The Secret,” but this is not a new concept. In fact, the scientific principles behind the Law of Attraction have existed for all time. The very short explanation of this concept is that “like attracts like.” Something in a particular vibrational frequency attracts things in a similar frequency. OK, so you might be asking what this has to do with thinking like a successful business owner. Well – everything! You see, although making the change from idling away valuable time at a job and becoming your own boss is essential, that is only the first step. Realizing how much what you think about impacts the world around you, in this example your business, reveals how important an understanding of this concept is to your success. Your thoughts create your existence – the people, things, opportunities – literally everything in your life. Spend some time studying the Law of Attraction; learn how to get into the right vibration to attract wealth and all the good that you desire.

This brief article sought to provide an overview of some differences between the employee and business owner mentality, and introduce the Law of Attraction to suggest the import role attraction plays in the success of your business. Many workers develop bad habits such as time wasting or appearing to be busy in order to keep a manager happy, and these habits need to change when someone is no longer looking over their shoulder to check their productivity. Finally, the Law of Attraction goes beyond the simple shift in attitude and responsibilities inherent to running a successful business, and demonstrates how critical our thoughts are to the success of our businesses, to attract wealth, and enjoy a happier and more accomplished life in general.

What Is a Business Mindset?

Have you ever wondered what a business mindset actually is and what it means to have one?

Well, here’s a practical breakdown of what a business mindset is.

See how many of these characteristics you already possess yourself.

Aim to work on the ones where you feel you fall short…

Having a Business Mindset Means Knowing What You Want From Your Business

A business should serve a specific purpose and before you create yours you need to know what you want from it.

To achieve this, start with the lifestyle you’d ultimately like to live, then work backwards and make sure any businesses you create can give you the money, freedom and fulfillment you require to live this lifestyle.

With a Business Mindset You’ll Never Quit Even When Things Get Tough

Creating and running your own business is tough, especially in the early days. Anyone who tells you any different is only telling you what you want to hear.

There will be many challenges before you succeed and you must accept this. However, if you absolutely refuse to quit you will eventually succeed and with the correct business mindset things will get much easier.

A Business Mindset Enables You to Accept Failures and Learn From Them

Following on from not quitting, you’ll inevitably follow some paths which will blatantly fail. Whether it’s ideas you have and try out or entire businesses, unless you’re extremely lucky then you will experience failures.

Pick yourself up, learn from your mistakes and try again. Failing isn’t the same as quitting, as long as you try again. If it becomes obvious that you’re going to fail, don’t be afraid to fail fast and move on to the next idea quickly.

Having a Business Mindset is Setting Goals, Tracking and Achieving Them

Sometimes the work involved in starting a new business or project can seem overwhelming. Setting yourself goals which are achievable and tracking your progress will help you keep on the right track.

Once you’ve achieved your goals, set yourself some new more ambitious goals and follow the same process. Repeat until you’re where you ultimately want to be, living that lifestyle we talked about earlier.

If You Possess a Business Mindset You’ll Focus 100% on What’s Important

It’s easy to set yourself lots of goals and then try to achieve them all, but you may find yourself overwhelmed again. Use the 80:20 rule and identify those 20% of goals which will give you 80% of the benefits.

Focus on these goals one at a time and you’ll cut through the overwhelm and ultimately achieve more with the same effort.

Possessing a Business Mindset will Enable You to Ignore Criticism

Whatever goals you try to achieve, you’ll see criticism from all directions. Either ignore it, disassociate with those people who criticise you or do what I do and have fun with it.

I enjoy people’s criticism because I know they either don’t understand what I’m doing or they’re jealous because I’m doing something that they never dare do. I have fun listening to the “what if…”, “I wouldn’t do that because…”, “now’s not the right time to…”. I’ve heard it all before.

A Business Mindset Enables You to Streamline, Automate and Outsource

Create checklist for all of your regular tasks which are either complex or important. This improves both consistency and quality. Look at your processes and strip out anything that you don’t really need to be doing.

Create systems to automate whatever you can and then finally outsource the rest of tasks you don’t want to do. This process promotes the freedom and fulfillment parts of the lifestyle you’re aiming for.

To Possess a Business Mindset You Must Become an Expert Marketer

Out of all the tasks you chose to do yourself, either because they’re extremely important or you simply enjoy them, I’d highly recommend you put “marketing” into the extremely important category. You don’t have to do all the marketing yourself, I don’t expect you to be handing out flyers unless you really want to.

However, marketing is such a vital component of any business you do need to learn how to do it really well yourself. Never lose sight of what’s going on in your marketing, it could cost you dearly.

Having a Business Mindset Means Creating Money Making Machines

What you should be aiming for is to create businesses which are money making machines, so they can support the lifestyle you want to live. When you own a business or businesses which run with very little input from yourself you should be pretty close to having the freedom and wealth you need to finally do what you want to do with your life.

If a business requires your constant input, it’s more of a job than a business. Aim to build largely autonomous businesses and you won’t go far wrong.

Possessing a Business Mindset Means Being Passionate About Your Niche

Creating and running any business can be tough at times but it’s much easier if you’re passionate about what you’re doing. If you enjoy and truly believe in what you do your journey will be made much easier. Don’t just chase the money. If we all did that I’d be selling weight loss products now, but I’m not remotely passionate about that niche so it’s never going to happen for me.

You’re customers will spot from a mile whether or not you’re really passionate about what you do. Choosing a niche you’re passionate about drastically increases your chances of success and fulfillment.

The Best Mindset For Business

In this post I will be sharing some advice that I took up from reading a newsletter some time ago.

So I was checking my email and I opened my inbox to see a subject headline saying “how to effortlessly create wealth” and this attracted me because I know creating wealth does take some type of effort.

Now back to the topic when I opened the message I began reading, and as I read the message that’s when it HIT ME. What happened was I finally came to an understanding to why I was never hitting my goals in terms of my business even though I was putting my all into it.

What the message told me was the reason was due to the fact our energy gets drained and we hit brick wall after brick wall when striving for success simply due to an inner conflict.

As I was coming to read more of the message my head began to nod and I really felt like this was the position I was in. So to continue what the message was illustrating for me, it said that this inner conflict is like a mental war between my confident self saying that I can become successful and my negative self saying I will never make it.

With this the message said that this inner conflict is what’s draining me and acting as a barrier to achieving my goals for every time I come up short and hit a brick wall on my pathway of success as I listen to my self-confident voice telling me to that I am doing everything the right way.

Once I hit that brick wall that win when the little voice tells me that I will never make it.
And the message was saying that this type of inner conflict of me striving for success with confidence then once I go went temporary defeat I feel as if I will never become successful, only drains me and that the only way to overcome this was to let go of my EGO.
As I saw the word ego I then realized this inner conflict that’s holding back is simply due to my ego.

Now this may seem odd, but I gave deep thought to it and I understand now to just let go of all resistance, and know I am someone moving towards my goals effortlessly.

The Serious Business Entrepreneur Mindset

To become a heavy business entrepreneur, you need to have the correct attitude. This implies thinking strategically, and knowing the factors which will make or break a business venture. The subsequent elements are all part of a sound business entrepreneur mindset:
Become a heavy business entrepreneur
A business entrepreneur must be centered on making cash – This can be the bottom line of being in business, and unless this is often at the forefront of your mind with each business call you make, then your business is at risk of losing ground to competitors and maybe even losing relevance completely.
A business owner should be confident in their own selections – This doesn’t mean that you should not raise for knowledgeable recommendation when necessary or get help in realizing your goals, but you certainly cannot let different folks make key decisions for you. Provided you do the required analysis, you must have a sound basis for moving forward together with your plans. Bear in mind this is often your venture, not someone else’s.
A heavy business entrepreneur must make strategic business moves – The proper mindset is not to leap into every business activity on offer, but weigh up which are possibly to supply the greatest results. For instance, networking or coaching should be relevant and worthwhile, or they will waste both time and money.
An entrepreneur should connect with profitability – If profitability is the raison d’?tre of being in business, then you must recognize all the knowledge that relates to this. What’s your profit margin, your money flow, your sales goals, your competitive advantage, and your key profit indicators? These are the elements that keep an entrepreneur focused.
A business needs to implement strategic business practices – This means not obtaining so over-involved within the here and now that you simply lose sight of the bigger picture. Every call you make nowadays must relate to the long-term profitability of your company. You must ask yourself whether the practices you engage in are moving your company forward.
A business entrepreneur should be willing to diversify – There is no reason why you have to focus on one business to the exclusion of all others. A creative entrepreneur can continuously be on the lookout for his or her next profitable business idea. Whether or not you utilize someone else to hold out the day-to-day running of another business, it pays not to put all your eggs in one basket.
A business person must be passionate concerning what they are doing, without being emotional – Passion is strength and can cause bold and dynamic decisions, while emotions can cause weakness and forestall the proper decision, or any decision, from being made. You need to learn to differentiate between the 2 so you’ll recognize when your emotions are undermining your entrepreneurial skills.

The Right Mindset for your Business

If you are new to being your own boss, this article may not make a lot of sense at first but if you have been an entrepreneur for a while now, this will make total sense, I promise you. Either way, stick around as I will help you understand how powerful having the right mindset for your business can be. What does the right mindset look like?

In this article, I will talk to you like you are new to being your own boss. As an experience entrepreneur you will be able to relate very easily. If you are just starting your own business or thinking about it, a few things will occur no matter who you are; So it is important that you know this in advance and learn immediately how to handle these difficult situations; Having the right mindset will help you drastically move from one experience to the next (notice I did not say failure) without dwelling on what did not work.

At the beginning of your venture your mindset won’t matter too much. You are thinking you will be successful and you will do whatever it takes, right?. Wrong. Most new entrepreneurs goes in with the mindset that it will be easy and generally, because they were made to believe it was not going to be hard. Many things can go wrong when you start your own business. Actually more will go wrong at first than right. If you don’t understand that it will be very difficult at first and if you don’t have the right mindset, you will quit your quest to become an entrepreneur very quickly.

To help you survive the challenges ahead of you, use the S.T.A.T.E. of mind concept. Here’s how it goes. Support: Have a great supporting cast around you. A lot of people will say or may be just think you are crazy for starting your business. Stay away from them.

Trust: Whatever you learn, you must be able to trust what you do. Trust the people that have been there and done it before. Don’t try to re-invent the wheel.

Accountability: One of the toughest things to do is to hold ourselves accountable. Become self-discipline because no one can hold you accountable in your business but you.

Energy: Learn to provide a vibe of energy in everything that you do. Being able to motivate and inspire others will greatly help you and the people around you looking for leadership.

Look for the following qualities in a leader. He/she is consistent, persistent, hard working, desires to help others, motivates and most of all inspires others to do things they thought they could never do. Do you think a leader with the wrong mindset could achieve this? Obviously not. Learn to understand that this is a marathon, a journey that when you look back on it, you will say what a wonderful ride it was.

What is needed to understand is, no matter what you try and don’t succeed with, you should look at it as what it is, something that did not work, not a failure. You will try several ways of doing what you are trying to do before it is successful. How many more times do I try before I quit and the answer is: Just one more time, until you make it, until you are victorious.

My happiness depends on your success! Ghyslain

The Business Networking Mindset

Business networking is basically the practice of individuals being able to interact with possible business prospects. In today’s day and age, business networking is seen as the growing element in order to reach out to a wider audience. All in the hope of maximizing client potential, this in result would be more business. The key behind getting rich was once stated by a famous tycoon Robert Kiyosaki who stated that the key behind getting rich is creating a strong and successful network. It’s who knows you, and not just who you know.

Any business man has to understand the important and benefits that can be achieved from creating a business network. And aim to create a large and strong network of contacts for his/her business to succeed. Below I have looked at some key mindsets that any business networking individual should keep in mind:

Your initial aim should be to give first and expecting that gain will eventually come. Give something first to your possible clients in order to get on their good side or as referred to in business terms collecting “karma points”. Establish a truce of commitment, trust and reliability and make sure you are able to express this in both verbal and practical terms before moving forward. The key behind any business is to gain a profit. No business will be willing for you to be the “winner” and them to be the “looser” during a business deal; more commonly known as win-loss. You should be looking for a win-win scenario where both you and your client are able to gain maximum results from one decision. It simply levels the platforms for moving forward at a smoother and quicker pace.

It is equally as possible to keep a balance when communicating amongst one another and going towards the deal. You have to have “light feet” and create a decent link before you move on to close a deal. It’s the same principal for water pipes. Unless you don’t connect the pipes together, the water won’t be able to flow to its destination. Same principal here, only difference its business.

From a business networking point of view, you have to make sure you are open minded and able to take on new ideasand adapt accordingly. You can not expect your ideas to be presented to your client and accepted with no concerns. Every business deal that happens will always consist of negotiation that may require you to deviate slightly from your initial plan in hopes of achieving the goal for both parties.

You want to be an enjoyable person to talk to. You want your personality to shine through to possible business prospects giving them a feel to “want” to come and talk to you rather than being forced or dragged in due to the nature of the event. Always keep in mind that deals are more imminent where one can relate to the other with relative ease.

If there are areas that you can not handle in a business proposition but know someone else that can, introduce them. Help in assisting others by solving their issues. Where you will help someone they in return will help you. As Zig Ziglar said:”Help Enough People Succeed and You Will Succeed”. Don’t be self obsessed and only move your hand forward when the benefit is directly in your favor. You won’t get very far that way.

Brendan Yong is passionate about business networking, and has been in leadership roles to develop business networking skill into a fine art. He served 3 Leadership terms in BNI Renaissance, and was instrumental in making the BNI Chapter the largest in the region.

Mindset and Your Home Business

If you are thinking about starting your own home-based business, you’re mindset is going to play an important role as to whether you build a truly successful business, or not. It has been quoted that “whether you believe you can, or you can’t do something – you are right!” If you are starting out with a belief that you will probably fail because that has been your experience in the past – then guess what? – you will more than likely fail or at least your results will be less than desirable.

So how do we change this underlying negative belief system to make it possible for us to succeed beyond our expectations? Many will say that “positive thinking is the answer” and whilst there is a degree of truth in this statement, it is very difficult for us to “positive think” our way out of a lifetime of limiting beliefs that have been embedded within our subconscious minds, ever since we were children. From the time we were born until the age of 7 years of age, our minds are still in the process of developing a critical facility and so our subconscious minds are wide open to suggestions from all of the adult or older influences that surround us. If a child is repeatedly told that he/she is stupid, then the subconscious mind will accept this negative suggestion and it becomes a belief. Even when reaching adulthood, this underlying negative belief will tend to control our behaviour, responses and perceptions of the world around us until that negative suggestion is removed and replaced with a more appropriate positive suggestion.

Some will give huge credit to “willpower” as being the answer, however – when the will and the imagination are in conflict – it is the imagination that will win the battle every time. When the imagination and the will are in agreement, the results are multiplied.

So how to we tap into the subconscious mind to create lasting change? Positive affirmations can be used over time to change a limiting belief, however this does take a lot more time than other methods such as self hypnosis.

To create lasting change, it is necessary to firstly identify a limiting belief, such as (I don’t deserve to be successful) and then create a postive statement which is “emotionally charged” and always in the present tense such as, (I am successful, I deserve success and it feels wonderful as I continue to create success in every area of my life). This can be used as an affirmation, and repeated many times a day over 2 – 3 months an beyond.

If you choose to learn self hypnosis, you will be accessing your subconscious mind directly and in doing so, shortening the time it takes to notice positive changes in your life. Whilst in the state of Hypnosis, your conscious critical mind is subdued and the powerful subconscious mind is much more accessible.

The best way to learn self hypnosis is to make an appointment with a qualified Hypnotherapist so that you can experience the hypnotic trance state. Most hypnotherapists will be able to teach you self hypnosis so that you can easily access the state, and then apply what we refer to as auto- suggestion. Even if you are learning self hypnosis from a book, it would be beneficial to visit a qualified Hypnotherapist at least one time to help you understand the experience and to be able to identify the hypnotic trance state.

Mindset and starting a home-based business – How to make positive mindset changes by utilising affirmations and/or self hypnosis.

Long Live the “Soft Stuff”: Skipping “Business as Usual” to Ignite Purpose and Optimize Mindset in Today’s Economy

We are in the midst of an exciting, nerve racking and pivotal time right now. I see this in the economy, in business, in leadership, in politics, in families, and in peoples’ senses of purpose and personal values. There’s a lot happening. On one hand I notice a lot of complaining, blaming, making excuses, and fear. And on the other hand, I see a lot of positive and productive percolation, reflection, and action. I notice a lot of dismissing “hype” and inauthenticity, and instead, see people really looking at what matters, what’s real and what’s the bigger purpose – in business and in life. And I feel the buzz. Can you feel it?

I see it as a real opportunity right now. 2010 has been referred to as the year of “making it or breaking it” – meaning it’s the year to DECIDE what will happen for each of us. Do we “give in” and succumb to “more challenging times,” do we get sucked in to “story”, do we blend in, go “beige”? OR do we get into action, ask different questions, work our mindsets and create a new way of “being” in business, a new way of engaging with people, and a new level of energy and success? It’s a decision point year. How and what are you deciding?

Using 3 very different and specific examples of people choosing how to move through their lives and businesses right now, I’ve written an article sharing 3 things to help you explore these questions and your own situation in order to help move your mindset and your organization in the right direction.

A while back, on a flight between New York and Chicago, I sat next to a gentleman who had worked for a major financial firm on Wall Street, and was now unemployed and exploring options. While talking to this gentleman, I was moved by his attitude. He saw this “horrible” situation, which was stressful and would likely have a significant impact on his family (including a possible relocation), as an opportunity to stop, breathe, reassess, and reinvigorate. He said, “I was so caught up in all of this for so many years, in many ways I lost view of what was most important and what I really wanted. I got sucked into the machine. Although I’m scared, I’m secretly excited by what lies ahead. I feel I have a new beginning.” That’s quite a mindset.

Another one of my clients, a senior leader in her organization, recently shared that this is one of the most stressful periods her company has ever known; business is slower, revenues are lower, stress is high. But in many ways, it has also been one of the most rewarding and bonding times, despite layoffs and cuts in spending. How is this possible?

First, she is keenly aware of her mindset and her impact on her team, and does her best to use it all in supportive and productive ways. She and her team proactively seek ways to learn and connect as well as to be more efficient, competitive, and just better. Finally, they’ve made use of their extra time by nurturing customer relationships and taking more personal time for themselves (that they can’t get as easily when they’re really busy.) The result? A more focused and bonded team, a higher and more “awake” level of creativity, recharged employees, advanced solutions for customers, and a higher level of hunger, satisfaction, joy, and appreciation for closing deals and connecting with customers. Once again, a matter of mindset.

Oddly, as I write this article, and prepare to share more examples from clients’ stories, sitting in the car dealership waiting for my brakes to be fixed, I meet Adam, a gentleman back from his second tour in Iraq. Talking to him for over an hour, I discover that what has gotten him through one of the most challenging, horrible, and, unimaginable to many, things a person could ever endure, seems to be, mindset and purpose. Our conversation goes without agenda and by the time his car is ready, I’ve learned new things about his mindset, the mindset of people who meet him (myself included) and what they make up about his experience, as well as what makes him and his fellow troopers feel good and appreciated. Learning a lot about his experience, and more than I’d ever want to know about Camel Spiders (although I couldn’t stop myself from asking or pulling up a picture – which I’ve opted NOT to include here), I get in touch with an even deeper level of awareness for myself that puts me back in touch with the importance of purpose, gratitude, and mindset. (And, of course quickly have to restrain myself from tripling the size of this article.)

These first two scenarios, and the unexpected third, are real examples of people dealing with the stress of business, life, war, the economy, and all things human. How are they doing it? Shared themes are: mindset, gratitude, forward thinking, connection, purpose, and “hunger.” And it’s inspiring, moving, and provocative all at the same time. What a gift.

What I notice with all of these is that it’s the “softer” stuff, the less tangible stuff, that is making better results possible and getting people through their challenges. Gratitude, connection, purpose, mindset, attitude, positive energy, and a “hunger” to be a part of, and make an impact, on something that is even bigger than us…It works, and it offers us an even more powerful and new way of thinking about business and leadership. (I’m waving my “soft stuff” flag over here – can you feel it?) Yes, of course you need the action and the strategic plans and the numbers to work, AND, you need the soft stuff too…now…I’d argue…more than ever.

What are you (and your team, family, children, partners, etc.) doing right now to “work your mindset” and create opportunity in our current economic, political, and business environment? How are you contributing to “helping things go better?” Is your mindset supporting progress, or slowing it down? The opportunities truly are limitless here and do not just come in the form of increasing revenues or productivity, but rather in other meaningful ways such as bonding with and strengthening teams and relationships, igniting higher purpose, connecting with customers, spending more time with family, taking a physical and mental pause to truly check in with yourself, and acknowledging the gifts in all of it.

What’s the first step to doing all this? Decide. Decide to make it work for you. Decide that you want it to be different (of course, only if you do). Get your mindset in order. Tap into your sense of purpose. Connect with your gratitude. Get hungry and go.
