Secrets of the Millionaire Mind – A Review

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is a book that will answer that question you’ve asked yourself a million times – what is it that millionaires do that make them millionaires and how can I do whatever it is that they do? Before we begin the review of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, here are a few words about the author T. Harv Eker.
T. Harv Eker is a motivational speaker and a traveling lecturer. A man of principle – he has a few principles that he swears by and never compromises on and actually has them printed on illustrated cards. He runs a mobile business school called Peak Potentials Training. His best known work is the book in discussion – Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. T. Harv Eker focuses a lot on the “change of mindset” factor and is clear about it in his book where he says rich people think differently than poor people. It is evident that this philosophy is firmly engrained in Mr. Eker’s mind because the “T” in his name actually stands for “The” because he considers himself unique. It is this kind of self-confidence and positive thinking that has led “The” Harv Eker to become a successful finance coach and when the man speaks, people listen because obviously his principles have worked out for him.
Now, the book. If you sincerely read every page of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, it will really transform your outlook and way of thinking and that is exactly what T. Harv Eker wants you to achieve. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind won’t tell you which stocks to invest in or what business ventures have a high probability of profit. This book is all about getting the right mindset. Eker argues that it’s negative thoughts and lack of confidence that essentially ‘programs’ people to remain at a certain financial stage, not necessarily a good one, and remain stagnant there. If you want to be a millionaire, think and act like one and you’ll get there.
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is liberally peppered with very quotable quotes that are firmly rooted in practicality and rather than just read and forget if you seriously act on them, then you’ll really see how easy it is to get out of a current financial predicament. One quote in particular appealed to me very much and I’m seriously considering making a plaque out of it to hang on a wall! It goes, “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”

Three Not-So-Secret Success Secrets

You can read about success strategies, mindsets and approaches until your eyes dry up and wither away. There are countless different outlooks regarding what creates success and how to emulate those who’ve reached the top of the mountain, so to speak. Sometimes, though, it’s good to clear one’s head a bit by getting back to the basics.

With that in mind, let’s cut to the quick and look at three not-so-secret success secrets. This is a trio of “in your face” musts that often are overlooked as we dig deep into the world of personal growth and self-improvement.

Work Hard

As much as we’d all like to find the magic pill that would completely transform our lives, the fact of the matter is that a little elbow grease is necessary to get the success machine in operation. You can’t hope for things to happen by luck or desire alone. While people can laud the Law of Attraction, they’ll even tell you that none of it really matters if you don’t accompanying your manifestations with action. The more action you take, the greater your odds for success will be. It’s not sexy, but it’s true.

Work Smart

There are those who’ll say, “Work smart, not hard”. That’s not the worst plan in the world, but there is a better one. Work hard and smart. As you’re pursuing the necessary actions to reach your goal, look for ways to do things better. Seek efficiency. Pursue knowledge. Benefit from the experience of others. If you can find ways to reduce the effort necessary to complete a task, you’ll accelerate your march toward success.

Keep Working

Do you know why so many people are looking for success secrets? It’s often because they forget this critical part of the success formula. They may have everything they need to reach their goals, but they don’t get the job done because they bail out too soon. You need to do the work and you need to do it the right way. You also need to do enough of it to get from where you are to where you want to be.

That’s a simple look at what it takes to “make it”, isn’t it? Those not-so-secret success secrets may not be the kind of thing that make you stroke your chin and say “aha!” They are, however, core principles that get lost in the shuffle way too often.

The Real Secrets to Success in Internet Marketing As They Pertain to Mindset and Decision Taking

I want to examine mindset and the ability to recognize an opportunity as an entrepreneur.

Right away we know the over riding law here is mindset. Any person who has a mindset for success and truly believes they can be successful, without any doubt, will be successful!

It does not matter if they are young or old, fat or thin, high school diploma or Doctorate, they will seek the knowledge and somehow acquire whatever they need, apply the necessary laws and they will rise to the top.

True talent can not be stifled. It will always come to the fore. It will burst out, leak out or ooze out but it will always make itself apparent.

My father in law’s name was Ken and he was a super salesman. However, when he completed his senior year in high school, he placed second to last in his final exams. This was mostly because he was a jock. He excelled at sports and really had very little interest whatsoever in academics. He was a fighter, very popular with his peers and he had great social skills.

His academic achievement translated into a job as a lowly billing clerk in a well established trading house, commission agents for some of the worlds leading brands in commodities.

You need to be cognizant of the fact that we are talking about a time when there were no computers, fax machines, photocopiers or even calculators. All bills therefore had to be calculated and written by hand.

Ken had a mindset for success. Although there was no overtime pay, he voluntarily worked way past working hours and spent his lunch hour writing mountains of bills. He soon came to recognize that the salesmen were the true heroes of the organization. However there was a huge gulf between him and these salesmen as they were older men, with great skills and expertise in the art of selling and he was a mere boy.

At lunch time he was the only one in the office and so when the phone rang, he answered it. These calls were usually big wholesalers who were enquiring about goods. Ken knew the products and the prices and most of all he knew who the biggest customers were as he wrote so many bills. Instead of taking messages, Ken launched into selling the goods on the telephone, pushing products and getting some very good orders.

He then immediately calculated and wrote the bills and handed them to the warehouse for delivery. As a result his orders went in ahead of all the others and the customers, who were delighted at the prompt service started calling the office and asking for Ken by name.

Needless to say the salesmen were not the least bit amused and reported him to the general manager, complaining that he was a meddling billing clerk interfering in the serious business of the company.

The manager, Mr. Johnson stroked the ruffled feathers of his salesmen and called Ken into his office. He told Ken that he had really stirred up a hornets nest with the salesmen and then took a quick accurate decision to teach Ken to drive, personally and gave him the oldest company car and sent him out on the road to sell goods. Ken excelled at this and very soon afterward was promoted to sales manager of all the salesmen who were about twice his age.

This went on for about 4 years until Ken saw an opportunity to sell Life Insurance for straight commission, no salary. His friends and family urged him not to throw away the security of his high paying job for the risk of straight commission. Ken made a fast accurate decision and started selling life insurance and very quickly he became a millionaire.

Ken’s mindset made him very wealthy. His mindset promoted him from success to success. Ken was an entrepreneur. He was able to recognize an opportunity when he saw it, seize it and exploit it. Through his investments he supersized his wealth.

Internet marketing is about being an entrepreneur. A successful entrepreneur is one who can quickly recognize an opportunity and make a fast accurate decision to exploit that opportunity. You can put your life on a fast track to extreme wealth by grabbing the right opportunity and exploiting it. Timing is everything.

Secrets of Article Writing – Develop The Mindset of An Article Writer

The mindset of any writer is important and article writing is no different. The best way to develop your mindset is to understand how articles are best utilized for your purposes and then create a regular routine around that. Whether you are a freelance writer or a website marketer, you can create a regular routine to help develop your mindset.

Knowing your goal is the first step in developing your mindset. For example, if you are writing to market your website, it is important to understand that your articles do not have to be long works of art. A correctly written article to market your website only needs to be about 300 to 400 words. The importance of the article is to increase your search engine optimization and also improve your position on search engine result pages. Providing detailed information is not important. Your website will inform the reader about your products.

Writing longer articles will not distract you from your goal; however it will reduce your chances of writing more articles. One of the most important strategies to article marketing is to publish as many articles as possible. The more articles you produce, the better your results. If on the other hand your motivation is to become a freelance writer, then you must conduct more research and produce more detailed articles. The most successful article writers understand what their most effective strategy is and then they develop a system to increase their production.

Once you know the best approach, you can develop your mindset much more easily. For freelance writers, you must develop a regular routine of research and fact checking to produce longer and more detailed articles. For website owners, shorter mass produced articles are much more effective at raising your SEO and eventually increasing traffic to your website. The bottom line is to know what type of article works best for you and then fine tune a system so you can increase your production and quality.

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article writing to build your list:

Some Thoughts on Mindset – 5 Mental Health Secrets For Great Workouts

Your mental climate during workouts is one of the most significant factors (if not the most significant factor) that will determine the level of success you’ll experience from that workout. What follows are my favorite tricks and tactics for more productive gym sessions:

Let Go Of Results And Simply Do The Right Thing

Sometimes the desire to get a result interferes with the desire to do the right things. If you’re learning how to squat for power meets, one of your goals must be the ability to hit parallel. It’s the right thing to do. You should never let your desire to hit a big number interfere with getting to parallel. If you’re learning ho to do full (“squat”) cleans or snatches, you can’t let the desire to make the lift interfere with squatting under. Instead the goal should be to squat, whether you make the lift or not.

The “right thing” is a premise: “If I do “A” it should result in “B.” Then you test the premise by doing “A” and checking your results. If the results aren’t there, your premise is flawed and is in need of revision. If your premise is sound, you got the predicted result.

By the way, one of the best premises you can adopt is: “If I put in the work, good things should happen.” Try it.

Tighten Up Your Shoelaces

If I knew where I picked this up I’d tell you, but I honestly can’t recall. The idea is simple- when you’re getting revved up for a big lift, tighten your laces. They’ll serve as a visceral reminder to tighten yourself up. I’ve been using this little cue for years, so I guess it must be serving me in some way.

Be Careful Of What You Allow To Define You

We all have flaws and limitations. It’s important however, not to give these imperfections too much credit. After all, you’re equally defined by your strengths as you are by your weaknesses. I’m personally very careful about labeling myself as old, a geek, slow-twitch-dominant, lazy, or whatever rationalization I’ve been stewing over. The reasons for why you can’t are valid and they’ll always be there if you need an excuse. The reasons why you can are just as valid, although most of us don’t call upon them as often as we should.

Lowered Expectations

One of the most consistently rewarding mindsets you can employ is that of “lowered expectations.” I know, it doesn’t sound like anything you’d pick up from a book on high-performance psychology, but allow me to explain: Sometimes, expecting a lot out of yourself, especially when you do it all the time, can hurt more than it can help- if you frequently fail to hit the mark, mounting frustration can seriously sideline your motivation. I’m all for a hard-charging “take no prisoners” attitude, but to be honest, it often pays to give yourself a break sometimes. Anytime you can exceed your expectations (even if they’re low expectations) can really generate a lot of enthusiasm to fuel your gym sessions. Find a happy medium when it comes to your expectations.

Have A Routine, Then Break It

It’s vitally important to have a set methodology in the gym- the way you mentally psyche yourself, the way you warm-up, the way you take weight jumps, how you deal with misses, and so on.

It’s equally vital however, to conscientiously break your routine so that you don’t become overly-dependant on it. If you always use chalk, go without it once in a while. If you always use the same exercise order, break that pattern from time to time. If you always train in the morning, do an occasional afternoon workout. Get away from needing everything to be perfect all the time. Place yourself under some unfamiliar adversity- you’ll be better off for doing so.

If you’ve got a few tricks of your own to share, we’d love to hear them! Just hit the “discuss” link below.

3 Secrets For a More Positive Mind

Remember Stuart Smalley from Saturday Night Live?  If he said something negative about his life, he’d stop himself and say, “No, that’s just stinkin’ thinkin’! I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!” This was Stuart’s way of shifting his thoughts of low self esteem and personal defeat into feeling okay and even loved. If you ever tend to look at all the possible ways you or your life are no good, you can shift your thoughts into higher levels.

Thought Shifting

So if like Stuart you do a litany of stinkin’ thinkin’, you can shift your thinking upwards. First you take note of what you’re doing. Here’s what Stuart once said to himself:

“Oh my God, I said the wrong thing to someone. I’m going to die homeless and penniless, I’m twenty pounds overweight, and no one will ever level me.” That’s Stuart’s negative spin and is not quite the truth. Choose your own negative spin if you have one. You first pay attention to it and look at it from a distance. Stand back as if you’re on a mountaintop and take a look. No judgment, just observation.  “What am I attempting to say here?” you might ask yourself. You may be attempting to self destruct or treat yourself less than well. (You can blame it on the devil or the negative thought forces of the world.)

“No that’s just stinkin’ thinkin’ – or something like this to yourself.” “I don’t need to do this anymore. I’m a being of the universe.” Or “I’m fine just the way I am.” Or “Maybe I didn’t do so well that last time, but I can transform this, and I will.”

And you can always remember this: “It is what it is!”

Seeing the Advantage of Everything

If you lose something or regret something else, you can look for the advantage, the other side to all things. Maybe you hurt your leg, but perhaps this keeps you from having to do some work you really didn’t want to do. Maybe you lost something, but you’re learning to be non-attached. Or maybe you’re being opened up to a new life. Perhaps you’re being prepared for something higher or more expansive. Maybe you’re learning the importance of spiritual values. Perhaps something has worn out its usefulness or relevance in your life, but you haven’t yet acknowledged it, and now you can. Learning to see the advantage of everything is a major life transforming habit of mind.

Connecting with Your Wisdom

Your Wise Mind has a fresh perspective on life. When you ask it what it would like to tell you about something, it will tell you the truth. A young eleven year old girl was afraid to go to sleep because she could only think of bad people who might try to harm her. She allowed herself to feel her fear, and then she asked her Wise Mind to tell her more:” It’s okay. You used to feel this way when you were a younger child, but now you can grow up some more and think thoughts of being safe.” Anyone can do this, young and old – connect with the Wise Mind, for fresh perspective and for truth.

Success Secrets – The Mindset of Highly Successful Individuals

All personal development experts are in agreement that peak performers have certain characteristics in common which enables them to achieve phenomenal success. Hence, it follows that if you were to study and adopt these characteristics that you too could dramatically improve your level of success.

Thought leader James A Ray has identified five (5) key characteristics of highly successful people.

1. Powerful Personal Will
Expressed another way, peak performers know exactly what they intend to create in life. They have an iron will. Take the real estate entrepreneur, Frank McKinney. He recently completed his fourth Badwater ultramarathon. This is 135 mile marathon described by National Geographic as the toughest marathon in the world. And the setting for this event is Death Valley. Competitors have only a 60% chance of finishing. This is an event that will finish the ill-prepared. Frank McKinney pushes himself to his limits for a very worthy cause – his Caring House Project – but it takes a strong will and enormous discipline to subject yourself to such an ordeal.

2. Laser Focus
They are incredibly focused and single-minded. Once they establish their intention and set a goal they direct their full resources to the attainment of that goal. And this level of focus doesn’t just relate to personal and business goals. It’s pertinent to everything that they do. I recently read about someone who had an interview with Tiger Woods. The interview was at a hotel and, as you can imagine, Tiger Woods was receiving an incredible amount of attention. Yet, he gave the person interviewing him his full attention. That level of focus has been many years in developing and it is just one of the things that makes Tiger Woods the phenomenal sports person that he is.

3. Highly Energetic
Ralph Waldo Emerson said “Do the thing and you’ll find the energy to do thing.” Successful people certainly know the meaning of this. You only have to look at someone like Richard Branson. He has a wide range of interests from his involvement with Formula 1 with Team Brawn to space exploration with Virgin Galactic. He plays a very hands-on role in promoting his various companies. People who are energetic tend to be passionate about what they do. Their enthusiasm and excitement is contagious. Passion for what you do is what will keep you going when times get tough and, if you’re going after anything that is worthy of you, things will certainly get tough at times. But, as Mark Victor Hansen said:

“Whoever has the most energy wins. Energy gives one confidence, power, self-esteem and new possibilities.”

4. Unshakeable Self-Belief
One of the reasons why people fail to achieve their goals is that they simply don’t believe in themselves. So they don’t believe that they can achieve their goals and they don’t take action. This is learnt behaviour. Take the example of a normal healthy baby. When that baby learns how to walk it doesn’t give up after the first attempt thinking “Dumb idea trying to stand on two legs. I think I’ll crawl for rest of my life.” No, the baby falls down and then simply gets up again and the baby keeps refining its movements and keeps trying until they can walk. It’s only later in life that we develop this attitude where if you’re not immediately successful then you give up before you start. And this attitude stems from a negative self-belief so take the advice of best-selling author of “The Success Principles”, Jack Canfield and:

“Choose the belief you would have if you knew you could be successful.”

5. Growth Driven
Declan Dunn said that when you achieve success is not the time to sit on your laurels and bask in the glory of your achievement. Instead, it’s a time when you should re-invent yourself. Madonna is a master of the art of re-invention and her results reflect this. She is the highest paid female singer in the world and has held this status for at least 3 years. However, growth is not just about re-inventing yourself. It’s about continually improving and expanding yourself and whatever business you’re involved in. And the fact is that if you’re not continually striving to improve then you will slide into a state of decline because nothing remains static. As James A Ray says:

“Spirit only has one objective – fuller expression and expansion.”

And, it is seeking to do so through you.
